How to Make Yogurt Without Yogurt Maker

I kicked myself for not making yogurt at home for all these years, because it is so easy. I have finally started to make it a routine. If you are like most Americans, you likely believe yogurt is part of healthy diet and buy small containers of yogurt all the time. Please pay attention to how much sugar those tiny containers of yogurt have, especially the low fat ones. I have a video to show you how to make yogurt at home.

I use a2 whole milk to make yogurt. You can use lower fat milk , but the end product will be thinner and less creamier. I used previous batch of yogurt as the starter, but you can use any regular full fat plain yogurt as your starter. DO NOT use yogurt that has additives as your starter. Look for a brand that only has milk and good bacteria as the ingredients. Stonyfield Greek yogurt is my go-to.

Making yogurt at home like this will save you a lot of money and lot of unnecessary sugar consumption.

Here is what the final product looks like:

I recommend you use homemade yogurt, mash up some berries and banana, and make your own tasty yogurt.

Cost of making best quality organic yogurt at home is 6.5 cents per ounce. Buying the exact quality of yogurt in the store is 16 – 18 cents per ounce. Store bought yogurt also go through heating process after fermentation, so they have less good bacteria than home made yogurt would have. You can get home made yogurt sugar content down to 2.5 grams per serving and I have yet to find yogurt with less than 5-6 grams of sugar per serving.

Materials needed:
